This week is Spirit Week at St. John School! Sponsored by the Student Council, students have the opportunity to participate in activities that celebrate pride in St. John School. The week began with Crazy Hat, Tie and Sock Day on Monday, continued to Drop-In Reading with Buddies on Tuesday (for more on the SJS Buddy program click here). On Tuesday Grade 3 students, Sean M. and Logan K. were “Principal for the Day”. They had a full schedule for the day which started of course with Morning Prayer in the gym. Mother Elaine and SJS teachers were so grateful for their help and participation! Next week, we will have our second and final “Principal for the Day”.
Spirit Week 2018
Yesterday, Wednesday, students met for the first time with their field day teams to decorate their Field Day team t-shirts. Teams bonded together in the spirit of team-building. As is tradition at St. John School, field day teams consist of teams of students from all grades. The leaders of the teams are typically 8th Grade or 7th Grade students who take on leadership roles for their teams. Each team is assigned a color. We see the Buddy Program at play once again as students are encouraged to take care of each other and especially their younger peers. While the students compete for their teams, they are encouraged to wish the very best for the other teams and to compete in a spirit of friendliness and kindness. The crescendo and finale to the week is of course Field Day which will take place on Friday. Today, Thursday SJS invited school community parents and guests to partake in “Career Day”. Students are introduced to presentations and discussions on various careers and participate in related fun and interactive projects. Check back here for more photos to be added as the week goes on! Have a great Spirit Week!
